DeSaussure; cotton trade and other business ventures, including land lease, 11 Mar. 1856, from DeKalb Manufacturing Company, Kershaw District, S.C., to J.M. DeSaussure for his waterworks. Collection also includes papers, receipts, and other items re the internal slave trade, and letters, 3 Jan.-21 Apr. 1865, Charleston, S.C., from various persons to J.M. DeSaussure in Camden, S.C., re apprehension, boarding, and subsequent escape of Lucy, his fugitive slave found passing as a free woman in Charleston, S.C.
